Lithuania's Energy Ministry prepares natural gas capacity model

Lithuania's Energy Ministry has submitted for public harmonisation draft amendments to the Law on the Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) Terminal. The amendments foresee consumer-favourable financing of security of gas supply - the so called natural gas capacity model.
On 3-9 August, the average electricity price in the Nord Pool Spot Lithuanian bidding area was 3 percent bigger compared to the previous week, yet, it was lower than the price a year ago.

Estonia's state-owned energy giant Eesti Energia will make redundant nearly 200 miners by the end of the year since the demand for oil shale has fallen due to low prices of shale oil and electricity, Põhjarannik newspaper writes.
Lithuanian MEP addresses European Commission over Nord Stream

An address to the European Commission (EC) regarding gas pipeline Nord Stream has been submitted on the initiative of Member of the European Parliament Petras Austrevicius. The EC has been asked to evaluate the intentions to lay new gas pipeline Nord Stream from Russia to Germany through the bottom of the Baltic Sea. The EC has been also asked to evaluate the impact of the Gazprom's project on the European Union (EU) member states. The address was backed by signatures of a number of MEPs.
