electricity price in Lithuania up by 3% last week

On 3-9 August, the average electricity price in the Nord Pool Spot Lithuanian bidding area was 3 percent bigger compared to the previous week, yet, it was lower than the price a year ago.

Last week, when the heat wave hit Lithuania, the electricity price stood at EUR 45.64/MWh, while a year ago the price was 54 percent bigger - EUR 70.15.MWh.

The average price on the entire Nord Pool Spot system last week was EUR 8.28/MWh.

Lithuania imported on average 69 percent of electricity it consumed. 50 percent of electricity was imported from Latvia, Estonia, and Finland; the remaining share - from third countries. Compared with the previous week, electricity demand among all three Baltic States grew the most in Lithuania. As a result of the heat wave, electricity consumption in Lithuania increased 4 percent.
