When initially, Estonian main grid company Elering hoped that the flaw in the Estlink 2 electricity cable between Estonia and Finland, which switched off at the end of April, will be repaired by this Saturday, now the repair period was extended till next Saturday, Public Broadcasting reports.

Estlink 2, which also in the past has malfunctioned repeatedly, worked flawlessly for over the past 7 months but was out of order again at the end of May.

Elering has said that the failure occurred during the warranty period. The warranty of Estlink2 lasts for three more years, and then Elering is entitled to claim compensation for each hour when the cable has not been in work due to flaws.
